Laura Jacobs' mother always told her not to play with her
food, but she never listened.

Out of its edible content, food can be appreciated for it's
varied shape, color & texture. These simplistic forms,
eastern in influence, exhibit the negative effects of time.
The foodstuffs from which they are cast, seem unfamiliar,
presented out of the context for which they are usually
intended. Her work presents a different way of approaching
food, bringing a new aesthetic fulfillment to something
that provides us nourishment and gastronomic pleasure.

All her bronzes are lost wax cast directly from the food,
whether it is the skin of a melon, a pork shank or a wasa
crisp. They are then painted or a patina is used.

All her work is original and one of a kind . She makes no molds.

Laura Jacobs studied undergraduate at Alfred University,
graduated from SFSU and did post graduate work
at CCAC and the Academy of Art
